What is being chased is somehow shattered at the first real touch. Not because that something is fragile, but because contact changes everything. But wariness creates distance, and distance distorts —
Dust, dust, lungs full
Vomit that tastes like care
Squeaks, sticking, stretching
Would you even try to hit it!
”It started with a Wallpaper” is a composition of things that happen at the core of wariness
and impulsiveness at the same time: confusion followed by serenity, a hazy observation
that is being trusted, and absurdity as a norm: something just that far beside the mark
that it cannot be fixed.
Petriina Kiiskinen (b. 1999) is a visual artist working primarily with sculpture and installation.
Her practice is based on an intuitive, hands-on approach, and a shared collaboration with material and site. Her work is often characterized by references to cultural memory and industrial uncanny.
It started with a Wallpaper is Petriina Kiiskinen's 4th solo exhibition. Kiiskinen graduated
from Turku Academy Arts Academy in 2025 and has also studied at the Royal
Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and Liminka School of Art. She has participated in
numerous public projects, working independently and in collaboration in Finland and
internationally.
