Wajda-Hänninen (PL/FI)
Agnieszka Wajda-Hänninen (b. 1980, Poland) is a visual artist based in Kellokoski, Finland. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the European Academy of Art in Warsaw. Her practice is rooted in painting, through which she explores the transformation of inner emotional states into visual form.
Wajda-Hänninen’s work is driven by close observation of the surrounding world—places, people, and situations—yet it does not aim at direct representation. Instead, her paintings focus on experience and perception, translating reality into rhythm, gesture, and atmosphere. She works intuitively, allowing contrasts, movement, and painterly expression to guide the process. As a result, her compositions exist on the boundary between figurative and abstract, where recognizable elements dissolve into dynamic visual structures.
