I am a visual artist living and working in Säkylä, active in the national art scene. I create my works by casting bronze and aluminum, building by hand from ceramics and precious metals using goldsmith methods and tools.
I have received grants for my work from the Kordelin Foundation and the Arts Promotion Centre. My works can be found in several public and private collections. The public bronze cast work “You are me” is on display at the Asema Art Gallery in Punkaharju.
I have held 17 solo exhibitions around Finland, including at the Uusikuva gallery in Kotka, Rajatila and Ronga in Tampere, the Art Centre in Ahjo and most recently at the Loimaa Art Museum and the Saskia Gallery in Porin. I held my first foreign exhibition in Tartu in 2019. I have presented my works in numerous joint and group exhibitions since 2014.
My works deal with people's relationships and influence on each other, on themselves, on nature and on the world around them. I use myths, fairy tales and religious stories as a source of inspiration. Forms found in nature, as well as references to art history and popular culture, are present in my work.
My art aims to raise questions more than to give clear answers. In my work, I highlight things that speak to me and linger in my mind. I want to share my thoughts with others. The easiest way for me to do this is through three-dimensional forms and by making them by hand. I want my works to be publicly displayed, in exhibitions or on social media, so that the exchange of ideas with others can be successful.
