Anna
Pekkala (FI)
Anna Pekkala works with emotion, empathy, and rawness that intersect with hardware-store aesthetics and references to popular culture. Pekkala’s works are diorama-like compositions where toxic substances and natural materials intertwine. She works with a broad range of materials and shifting scales. Pekkala describes herself as a timid water creature who, through her art, explores the tensions, movements, and latent destruction lurking beneath the surface of water or skin.
Anna Pekkala (b. 1989, Mänttä) is a Helsinki-based visual artist working with sculpture and installation. She completed her MFA in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, in 2024, and previously graduated as a visual artist from Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2015.
