Hanén (FI)
Anni Hanén (b. 1981) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. Her work weaves together personal and cultural relationships with memory and nature, a strong sense of materiality, and projects that unfold over long periods and in multiple layers.
Hanén is working primarily with a lens-based approach, exploring a wide range of techniques, combining experimental and cross-disciplinary approaches. Hanén’s art reflect the passage of time, the traces of memory, and the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world. Inspired by a sense of wonder, grounded in local contexts yet resonating universally.
Hanén received her Master of Arts degree from Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Photography, in 2013. Since 2004, her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and photography festivals in Finland and abroad, including The 3rd Beijing Photo Biennial (CAFA Art Museum, China) and a solo exhibition at Head On Photo Festival (Australia). Her works are part of publick and private collections, including the Finnish State Art Collection.
