Antti Heikonen (FI)

Antti Heikonen (b. 2006) is a Finnish painter from Tapiola, Espoo, admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts (Kuvataideakatemia) in 2026. He completed his basic art studies at Espoo School of Visual Arts in 2025.

Heikonen’s practice centers on oil painting, through which he explores his own life, personal experiences, and close social environment. His works often focus on friendship, identity, and the relationship between the self and the surrounding world, reflecting the perspective and emotional landscape of a young man navigating early adulthood.

His paintings are constructed in a collage-like manner, where narrative elements and visual references are layered to create meaning. Heikonen combines multiple stylistic approaches, ranging from photorealistic detail to simplified, expressive forms, allowing tension to emerge between precision and subjectivity.

A notable aspect of his work is the use of altered and deliberately distorted references to well-known artworks and other source images. Through these reinterpretations, he examines perceived distortions and inconsistencies in reality, questioning authenticity, perception, and the ways in which images shape both personal and shared experience.
