Deniz Satir (b.1993, Massachusetts) is a visual artist from Istanbul, Turkey, living in Helsinki. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and is currently studying in the Sculpture Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. Deniz works with soft materials, exploring themes around “soft materials vs. tradition” to investigate social and political issues through color, humor, and tactile comfort. Her work often takes the form of installations that reflect on personal and collective experience. Her earlier practice also includes textile based works such as tufting and crochet that address themes like gender norms and societal expectations, combining traditional craft techniques with contemporary expression.
