“Color is at the heart of my creative work. In my art, form usually takes a back seat, allowing color to take center stage. Through color, I explore emotional states and interpret sensations as well as experiences etched in my memory. I believe that color is always tied to the material, and finding the right combination is the essence of my work. I am constantly searching for the best color-material combination with the goal of finding a harmonious balance in my textiles.”

Textile artist and designer Elina Helenius is particularly known for her modern ryijy rugs and industrially woven functional textiles. Her textiles have been featured in numerous international exhibitions and publications. Helenius has been awarded with the title Textile Artist of the Year, and her works are included in museum collections in Finland, Sweden, and Japan, as well as in numerous private collections in Finland and abroad.
