Eveliina
Hämäläinen (FI)
Eveliina Hämäläinen (b. 1984) has explored phenomena arising from sensory and physical experiences in her works. In her painting, she strives for naturalness. She creates paintings as a continuous continuum, one after another, absorbing her mental landscape.
The paintings are created from many overlapping layers of color, which she adds, removes, and carves as the work progresses. Hämäläinen is interested in how one substance transforms into another. From an mental image to a real picture and from pigments to a painting. The spaces in the paintings are like tapestries, where organic themes open up views to sensations, memories, and materiality.
Eveliina Hämäläinen has a Master's degree in art. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. Hämäläinen's works are included in the state art collection, the Kone Foundation collection, and the Lars Göran Johnsson collection at the Turku Art Museum.
