Hanna
Konola (FI)
Hanna Konola (b. 1981, Pyhäjärvi) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, working mainly with drawing and painting.
Konola is interested in the artwork’s ability to convey a feeling of connection. She observes everyday life and being, and passage of time in it, absorbing in the quiet, small and understated.
Konola’s process is intuitive and the process and each moment is largely at the heart of each work. She is not attached to a certain technique, but focuses on the colour and material itself and the expansive language they provide. In the end, for Konola, it’s about finding something from the inside, that feels true, and bringing it into the outside world.
Hanna has a MA degree from Aalto University, and she has also studied illustration at Tama art university in Tokyo and visual communication in Bergen. Konola has had solo and group exhibitions in e.g. Helsinki and Tokyo. Over the years, she has drawn further away from narration and focuses on stripping down to minimal elements, the forms, colours and texture themselves and the presence they create.
