Heidi
Linsén (FI)
Linsén focuses in societal issues, the fear and frustration they cause on a personal level, and the phenomena they represent universally. Juxtapositions are present throughout her works, whether it is the harsh reality of police violence meeting the comforting softness of tufted yarn, feminist rage behind those cute pop artsy red lips, or the installation performances that ask to whom does this city belong to. Linsén sees her work as a soft documenting of fleeting moments and evolving societal structures. Tufting is her main medium of expression. She has challenged the limits and possibilities of this technique and developed her own very recognizable style. To Linsén tufting is a way to meditate as she turns yarn into permanent memories.
Linsén has had several solo exhibitions and her works have been part of several group exhibitions both in galleries and museums. Her works are included in Sinkka Art Museum collection, City of Kangasala collection among private collections.
Linsén founded the feminist performance and installation group Vallilan feministinen kollektiivi in 2021 with award-winning poet Sinikka Huusko. The group has performed e.g. in Helsinki Festival and received artist grants from Helsinki City. She is a board member of Artists’ Association MUU ry.
