Jussi
Juurinen (FI)
Jussi Juurinen (b. 1976) is a visual artist and printmaker based in Vantaa, Finland, whose work is rooted in the traditions of abstract art and minimalism. His work falls within the expanded field of printmaking, but in recent years he has moved away from paper-based work toward a more spatial direction. Juurinen's works explore visuality through different systems and systematicity.
Jussi Juurinen graduated from Aalto University in 2011 and works as a lecturer in visual arts at LAB University of Applied Sciences. Juurinen has had 11 solo exhibitions, the most recent of which was at Galleria in 2024. In addition to private exhibitions, his works have been displayed in numerous joint exhibitions at art museums in Helsinki, Lahti, Riihimäki, and Lapua, at kunsthalle in Helsinki and Seinäjoki, and twice at the Mänttä Art Festival.
In addition to his exhibition activities, Juurinen has made several public art projects in recent years. The most extensive of these projects was a three-part ensemble entitled Same but Different, completed in 2023 for the Verkkosaari daycare center. The work was curated by Helsinki Art Museum.
Jussi Juurinen's works are included in several collections, such as Finnish state, the art museums of Helsinki, Hämeenlinna, Jyväskylä, Järvenpää, Kuopio, and Vantaa, the Academy of Fine Arts, HUS, and the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.
