Lauren Guymer (AU/FI)

Lauren Guymer (b.1992, Melbourne) is an Australian visual artist based in Finland. Lauren specialises in contemporary watercolour painting that explores her lived experiences of the landscape, with a particular focus on her home and local environment. Her paintings are characterised by intricate details and light-filled layers that convey a sense of knowing and being in nature. Drawing, fieldwork, walking, and observation are essential to her practice and developing a connection to place.

Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Design from Swinburne University of Technology (AUS) in 2014 and undertook studies in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts (AUS) in 2015. She has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across Australia and Finland, including a major exhibition commissioned by the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (AUS). Her work has been selected for prize exhibitions including the Paddington Art Prize, the Lloyd Rees Memorial Prize, the M16 Drawing Prize, and the SBS Landscape Prize. Her artworks are held in public collections at the Southern Midlands Council and Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in Australia. Further activities include teaching workshops and participating in artist residency programs in Australia, Finland, and Iceland.
