Leena Katriina Ehrling (FI)

Leena Katriina Ehrling is a Helsinki-based visual artist (YAMK) working primarily with painting and drawing. Her practice explores the intersection of observation, intuition and inner landscape. Through layered surfaces, shifting lines and a dialogue between structure and openness, she seeks to give form to experiences that often remain unspoken or unnoticed.

Her process is research-oriented and experimental: she works with sketches, collages and material studies that evolve into paintings on linen using charcoal, acrylics and mixed media. Reflection, writing and spatial thinking are integral parts of her working method.

Ehrling holds an MA-level (YAMK) degree in Fine Arts from LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts, with a focus on public art, site-specific thinking and project-based working. These studies have strengthened her approach to space, materiality and the relationship between artwork, environment and viewer.

She aims to create works that offer both sensitivity and presence—spaces for recognition, pause and quiet resonance.
