Linn Byrkjeland (FI)

Linn Byrkjeland's artistic work stems from color and curiosity. For her, color is a means of expressing her own character: how she experiences the world and how she uses the elements, fire, water, earth, and air to construct her universe. In her artistic work, Byrkjeland explores a mythologically charged universe through abstract landscapes, and her paintings and drawings have a surreal undertone. Just enough for the viewer to understand the essentials, but leaving room for interpretation and wonder.

Byrkjeland's universe exists in different dimensions and worlds within worlds. She depicts this mythological universe through images. It is full of different creatures resembling birds, lizards, snakes, and smaller animals living in Nordic forests. The characters and scenarios she has created move between earthly elements and space, combining the rational and the absurd, dismantling our deeply rooted perceptions of reality and allowing us to embrace a parallel world.
