Mia Galde (SE)

Mia Galde is a photographer, visual artist, and photography educator based in Stockholm, Sweden. With over two decades of experience, she works across both analog and digital techniques, blending documentary and conceptual approaches. Her practice is grounded in a strong sense of visual storytelling, with recurring themes such as identity, memory, and the human condition.

Mia’s photographic work is often deeply personal, yet universally resonant. She begins her projects with a concept or emotional impulse that she explores intuitively, often returning to recurring motifs over time. Her images are marked by their quiet intensity and poetic clarity, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.

Alongside her artistic practice, Mia is a dedicated educator who has taught photography for many years. She has led workshops, lectured at institutions such as Fotografiska and Konstfack, and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with emerging artists and photographers. Her teaching is informed by a deep respect for both technical craftsmanship and individual expression.

Mia has exhibited her work in solo and group shows across Sweden, including venues in Stockholm and Järvsö. Her book Anime Meo (2019), produced in collaboration with Fujifilm Nordic, blends photography and personal narrative in a tactile, intimate format. She is also a featured X-Photographer for Fujifilm Nordic, and has appeared in media including the television series Alla är fotografer and the magazine Kamera & Bild.

At the heart of Mia Galde’s work is a desire to connect—with the subject, the viewer, and the world around her. Through her lens, photography becomes not only a means of expression but also a way of seeing, understanding, and remembering.
