Oskar
Partanen (FI)
Oskar Partanen (b. 1998, Helsinki) works primarily in the fields of sculpture and performative sound art. Many of his works combine found materials with kinetic elements like motors, sounds and microcontrollers which then build new narratives to artifacts once left behind. The sculptural pieces often take a role as performers, depicting less spoken emotions from reality like uncertainty, fear and inadequacy. Non-existent likelihood of succeeding in their tasks work as an anti-thesis to the way we think about robots: rather than carrying an unattainable idea, the artist tries to make his animatronic sculptures feel somewhat humane when confronted by the viewer.
Partanen has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and Universität der Künste Berlin, exhibited his works in Finland and Germany, and has sold pieces to different private collections.
