Riikka Peltola

Fibre artist and fashion designer Riikka Peltola’s work is a slow process of building relationships with the material and understanding the layers of time and memory the material bears with it, and what kind of a heritage can it relays. Riikka is interested in how our material world and individual life is linked to history, and how past and present are intertwined in material artefacts. A material's adaptability, its relationship with the soil, what kind of networks it is part of, and its fragility are at the core of Riikka's research. In her work, she is searching for the soul of the material. Riikka has presented her works at Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in Denmark, Cheongju Craft Biennale, South Korea Habitare Talents and Lokal gallery Helsinki.
