Riitu Uosukainen (FI)

Riitu Uosukainen, born in 1975, is a Finnish ceramic artist. Her sculptures are characterized by their empathetic and humorous characters, which explore existential themes. Many of her works depict human-like figures and owls, which function as symbolic observers of the world. Through these characters, Uosukainen explores themes such as empathy, environmental awareness, and the complex role humans play as both caretakers and destroyers of nature.

She holds a Master's degree in Ceramic Arts (YAMK) and has been active in the field since 2000. Her works are in the Finnish State Art Collection, the HUS Art Collection, and numerous private collections. Uosukainen's work has been exhibited in various galleries, including a solo exhibition in Berlin in 2022. Uosukainen's studio is located in Helsinki's Cablefactory, where she continues to create and teach, fostering a deeper appreciation for ceramic art.
