Sanna
Vakkilainen (FI)
Sanna Vakkilainen (b. 1996) is a Helsinki-based painter whose vibrant, expressive works move between abstraction and subtle traces of reality, where landscapes, events, or figures seem to emerge from the surface. Color, music, and movement play an essential role in her painting process. She primarily works with oil on canvas, but also enjoys experimenting with other mediums such as watercolor and acrylic. Sanna draws inspiration from nature, music, lights, colors and life its self with all its sensations and atmospheres. Her works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions throughout Finland, as well as internationally in New York, New Jersey and Miami.
Sanna has also participated in several public art projects, including group works in the Porvoo Triennial in 2020 and 2021, paintings for Flow Festival in 2024 and 2025, an electrical utility box painting in central Helsinki in 2024, and terrace table paintings for Hotel AX in Helsinki, 2025. Her paintings are included in several private collections in Finland and abroad, and one of her works is part of the Finnish State Art Collection.
Sanna hopes that her paintings can bring joy and evoke reflection, inviting viewers to experience and interpret them in their own way.
