Siiri
Turpeinen (FI)
Siiri Turpeinen (b. 2001) is an artist whose practice centers on encounters between humans, other species, and the environment. Through the body, they explore relationships between nature, identity, and societal injustices. Their works examine questions of agency, presence, and the possibilities of the body. Within these environments, relationships between objects, bodies, and space have space for play, and vulnerability is not only permitted but meaningful.
Turpeinen works primarily with painting, contemporary video, and mixed materials. Material exploration, everyday occurrences, and colour act as guiding forces in their process. Their practice is driven by a desire to challenge learned norms and habitual ways of seeing the world, with femininity and sensitivity functioning as resources for inquiry.
Turpeinen studies Art Education at Aalto University and completed a Fine Arts minor at Universität der Künste Berlin, where they focused on material experimentation and self-made paints. They actively participate in both solo and group exhibitions.
