This small quilt journal was part of my solo exhibition at Asbestos Artspace in Helsinki, during the summer of 2025.
The quilts in this exhibition were made in a span of about two years since becoming a mother. Made in between naps and bedtime.
Each quilt is a record of time, with a memory/feeling/thought tied to each one, along with a note of the material or technique being explored.
The text underneath I Used to Be a Blanket No. 2 read, "Birthing bodies. Natural ink and wear of materials."
The pink blocks were buried in dirt and left there for weeks.
Upcycled fabric, botanical dye on cotton (indigo, nettle, madder), image transfer, thread, batting and glass beads.
