Siunaus (Blessing) is an oil painting on canvas. The work is a triptych consisting of two side parts (170 x 60 cm each) and a central part (170 x 120 cm), totaling 170 x 240 cm.
The work is inspired by Zurbarán's painting "La Virgen De Las Cuevas" which depicts The Virgin of Las Cuevas sheltering Carthusian monks beneath her mantle. I saw the painting in a museum in Seville and instantly felt the urge to change the setting into a forest environment with animals, thus conveying the idea of preserving and respecting nature.
The work has been exhibited in a private exhibition in 2025 at Galleria Aarni, Espoo.
