Jenni Yppärilä (FI)

Jenni Yppärilä is best known for her signature three-dimensional paintings of the built environment, blurring the line between painting and sculpture. Her interest in buildings is primarily sociological: they express lived history, the present moment, and the values and changes of society, as well as the environment of individuals. Detached from their contexts, buildings cease to be mere places of passage and can be seen as portraits of society and its members. Her work explores the delicate balance between belonging and alienation, a theme she also examines through video art.
Yppärilä holds a Master of Arts degree from Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She has held solo exhibitions at venues including Turku Art Museum, Pori Art Museum, and Aine Art Museum, and has participated in group exhibitions in Sweden and Germany. Her works are included in collections such as the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Tampere Art Museum, Oulu Art Museum, and Pori Art Museum.
