Camille is a portrait inspired by an vintage black-white picture of Camille Monfort, once believed to be a vampire. In this work, she symbolizes the way that adventurous, brave women have been disgraced in patriarcal society up until our present day. The two dogs by her are perhaps her guardians, or a depiction of inner voices.
Work is done with oil and acrylic paint on cotton duck canvas. The sides of the work are painted, and the work is ready to hang. The painting has been shown at the Galleria Ars Pori, Pori, 2026.
