The work is part of my body of work Unveil, which I’ve been working on since 2017. The series examines humans conflicting and multifacetous relationship with hair. Through focusing on the intimate experience of hair loss, the works explore social and cultural impacts of hair, gender and illness. Hide and Seek draws inspiration from the self-portraits of Claude Cahun, an attempt to mask the visuals of illness with play and theatricality.
The work was framed for and exhibited in my solo exhibition ‘Unveil’ in Galleria Rajatila 2023.
