In nature, I find myself on the edge of endings and renewal, contemplating the transformation that exists within all things.
The world of plants reveals itself to me as vast roots—an interconnected network that extends to all of us. Humans cannot act apart from this, for the body is always bound to a changing environment.
In the exhibition 'At the root', I explore the forest floor, the undergrowth, and roots. Are there directions, beginnings, and ends? Or is the only certainty continuous change and cyclical flow? The series of works began in the landscapes of my childhood in North Karelia. In quiet moments beside a familiar forest, I turn inward and observe myself. I recognize a weave, a network of power that binds all presence together. The forest becomes an extension of my body, where my sense of self intertwines with the pulsing vascular system of the tree roots. I think of memories, woven tightly into their environment as a tense web of connections. In the forest, I am inside, I am part of it, I am connected. Here, matter is in constant circulation—when something ends, something new begins, and in the end, we all transform into one another.
