The painting depicts a soft snowy landscape. It contemplates ecological grief caused by climate change and the nostalgia related to fading memories. How does it feel remembering the light snowy days of childhood knowing that winters like that will likely never come again?

This painting was completed for my solo "Memories of windless days" and exhibited in galleries Toinen Silmä and Kalleria in 2025.

Saara Simonen is a Helsinki based visual artist who works with painting and sculpture. She graduated as a bachelor of arts (BA) from the University of Helsinki in 2024 and is currently writing her master’s thesis in aesthetics.
