Saara Simonen is a Helsinki based visual artist who works with painting and sculpture. She graduated as a bachelor of arts (BA) from the University of Helsinki in 2024 and is currently writing her master’s thesis in aesthetics. Simonen uses multiple materials in her work including polymer clay, acrylic paint, recycled textiles and plaster. Her pieces often combine techniques from both painting and sculpture. Lately she has been inspired by ecological grief, childhood memories of nature, materiality and swimming.
