Creating a sculpture out of a png image. A piece made for the perfect setting of an exhibition in the garden (Konst i Trädgården).
The rose must be thé most used icon, or symbol, for beauty; home decor, tattoos, clothing, gifs etc. Using this cliché, decorative, kitsch even, as a piece of art creates an interesting debate in my head. Of course many people would find it aesthetically pleasing, but does that mean it’s interesting as?
Also would a flat image like this become more dimensional if used in a more interesting way, or setting? Instead of being placed back into the garden… Or what does it say to have a artificial, flat version of the original amongst the actual real flowers? Could it become more layered this way? There’s definitely more weight to it..
Multiple layers of mdf, spray painted. 20x30 cm
