Robin
van Wijk (SE/NL)
Robin van Wijk (born 1986) graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague KABK (2014) and has since worked as Graphic Designer and Artist. In his art practice he deconstructs familiar objects and situations, taking it out of context, or shape, for it to be interpreted differently. Playing with what's real, and what's merely a reflection of reality. By changing materials or situation, a new appreciation of these object occurs. Creating a moment where the viewer would think to see something, while it isn’t. His aim is to create work that’s relatable, yet absurd. The point of art is to celebrate the existence of being human and one thing that is keeping us from doing that is mindless habits and routines, taking our lives for granted. His work invites the viewer to celebrate the mundane and take them out of those automated flows.
