Sun tree is a light painting consisting of two overlapping papers stacked in a lightbox adorned with engravings and red acrylic inlays. The work depicts an alchemical motif of a sun tree combined with the human nervous system.
The light paintings are created using the artist’s own technique, in which light passes through a colorless painting medium. The technique allows for the layering of multiple drawings, causing the images to merge and intertwine as light filters through them.
The lightbox is made from Finnish pine and birch and can be hung on a wall using a sturdy screw. The LED light inside has an approximate lifespan of 10,000 hours and can be replaced when needed. The box can be opened from the back. The LED has an on/off switch, making it easy to turn the artwork on and off.
The work was shown in the solo exhibition Citrinitas at Gallery Huuto II in September–October 2025.
