Olivia Leino (FI)

Leino’s artistic practice explores the fragility of being human and the boundaries of existence through the recurring presence of birds. Her visual language is characterized by a drawn quality and a touch of surrealism where the bird becomes a metaphor for the human condition. Through these figures she reflects on life and transience, the unspoken connections between people and empathy. Her work invites reflection on how compassion manifests in society and how it is expressed toward oneself and others.

Leino’s perspectives draw from existential philosophy and from the meaning and impermanence found in everyday life. She observes the world attentively, noticing moments that often go unseen in the rush of daily living, moments whose significance deepens when they can no longer be shared with someone close. She approaches these reflections through drawing where calmness, melancholy and an empathetic gaze are always present.
